Mow the lawn and rake thoroughly to remove any clippings, dead grass and to provide a surface for the grass to establish. Apply a light coating of soil or garden compost , rake and tread gently. Scatter the seed evenly at a rate of 17.5-35g per sq. metre (half to one ounce per sq. yard) and rake in gently. Water the area and maintain moisture levels to prevent the young grass drying out.
