Why are my carrots forked and misshapen?
Posted by Suttons Staff on 24 June 2013 11:32 AM
Forked or misshapen roots can occur if the soil is stoney or has not been dug deep enough or regularly rotavated to the same depth. Manure or compost should not be applied prior to sowing but should have been applied for the previous crop.

Carrots should be direct sown into the soil or deep containers. Sowing the seed in cell trays will also result in misshapen roots.
