How do you grow cardamom plants?

Grow cardamom plants on a sunny windowsill in a warm room. The plants thrive in a moist atmosphere and this can be achieved by misting with tepid water. It will also be beneficial to stand the plant in a saucer of gravel to which water is added, maintaining the level below the gravel surface to avoid the compost becoming over wet. Feed the plants occasionally when in growth with a balanced liquid fertilizer.

To harvest the spicy leaves cut them off close to the base of the stem. When the plant is growing vigorously you can remove up to a third of the leaves every couple of months.
