Tulip bulbs are planted during November and December in a sunny position. Planting earlier can result in frost damage to the shoot tips. Botanical varieties such as Tulip humilis are planted 10cm (4″) deep spacing the bulbs 10-20cm (4-8″) apart. All other tulips are planted 15-20cm (6-8″) deep and 10-15cm (4-6″) apart. Once the foliage has turned yellow lift and clean the bulbs, storing them in a cool frost free place until planting time. |
